A Bangladeshi woman and her ex-husband stood trial at the Sharjah Sharia Court of First Instance for the murder of her Pakistani husband.
According to court records, the woman prepared food and mixed drugs given to her by her compatriot ex-husband before serving it to the deceased. She allegedly smashed his head and then severed it, with the help of her ex-husband. The woman then cut his body into smaller parts and threw away his torso behind a furniture shop on Al Wahda Road, and disposed of the rest in different locations in Sharjah industrial area.
The crime came to light when a cleaner employed with the Sharjah Municipality saw blood in a waste bag and called the police. The police launched an investigation and managed to identify the victim. During interrogation, the woman said that her ex-husband was still in love with her and planned the murder because of jealousy.
The Sharjah Public Prosecution charged both the suspects with premeditated murder.
During the court hearing, the wife confessed to the crime and said that her ex-husband was the one who struck the victim with a cleaver in the neck, and the one who cut his body into pieces. She said she just prepared the food and opened the door for him.
However, advocate Hashim Al Hashmi told the court that the woman's ex-husband did not commit the crime, and was in Ajman when it took place. The court was adjourned to communicate with the family of the victim.
